Protected Designation of Origin in terms of olive oil?

This is an official recognition by the European Commission of the existence of groups of products originating in a particular place, whose characteristics are solely due to the environment and the human factors that comprise them. Furthermore, for there to be a Protected Designation of Origin, it is required that the production, processing and transformation of these products occur within the limited geographical area encompassing such PDO and that is it explicitly officially recognized.
